First coronavirus death reported in Kyiv, over 160 infected

A 70-year-old male patient has died, the report says.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said 161 people infected with COVID-19 coronavirus were detected in the capital city.

Twelve patients have recovered, while one person has died.

“The number of Kyiv residents with a confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus is 161 people and, unfortunately, one case is fatal – a 70-year-old man died,” he said this at an online briefing, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

According to Klitschko, 29 new cases were registered in Kyiv over the past day: 19 men aged 22-70 and 10 women aged 36-62.

“Eighteen patients were hospitalized. Four of them were transferred to clinical hospital No. 5, and nine people to hospital No. 7. Another three patients were transferred to the Oleksandrivska Hospital, and two were admitted to Hospital No. 3. Eleven Kyiv patients are being treated at home, on self-isolation, under medical supervision,” he said.

Klitschko said 12 patients, most of whom had been treated in the Oleksandrivska Hospital, recovered and were discharged.

According to him, almost 2,200 Kyiv residents have been tested with the help of rapid tests, 1,202 samples were laboratory-processed and 404 samples are being tested in Kyiv’s City Laboratory Center at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Klitschko reiterated all patients diagnosed with pneumonia were being tested in Kyiv.
