A sharp cold snap is coming to Ukraine: frost and snow are expected

After a period of abnormal heat in Ukraine, weather forecasters predict a significant cooling, which will begin on March 15, 2025. A decrease in air temperature and possible precipitation in the form of rain and sleet are expected in various regions of the country.

According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the change in weather conditions will begin on March 15. It is expected that on Saturday, March 15, the daytime temperature will drop to +5…+7°C in the western regions, while in the remaining regions +12…+20°C will still be observed.

On Sunday, March 16, a further decrease in temperature is forecast: in the west and north of the country during the day to +8…+10°C, at night – to +1…+7°C.

The most noticeable cooling is expected at the beginning of next week. On Monday, March 17, the daytime temperature will be about +4…+10°C in the western and northern regions, and the night temperature may drop to -1°C. Precipitation in the form of rain and sleet is possible on these days.

How to prepare for the cold snap

A sharp drop in temperature and possible precipitation may affect the daily lives of citizens. To minimize possible inconvenience, it is recommended to:

  • Review plans for the weekend and the beginning of next week, taking into account weather conditions;
  • Prepare warm clothes and shoes for yourself and your family members;
  • Check the condition of heating appliances in homes;
  • Car owners should pay attention to the condition of their cars, especially the batteries and heating system;
  • Be careful on the roads due to possible ice formation;
  • Follow weather forecast updates and recommendations from local authorities.
