Rada committee proposes to allow farms with area of ​​up to 500 ha to reserve personnel

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy at a meeting on Thursday addressed the Cabinet of Ministers with a proposal to review and amend the criteria for reservation of employees of farms with an area of ​​less than 500 hectares, the committee's press service said on Facebook.

"The agricultural sector is not only a strategic industry that supplies food to domestic and international markets, but also provides jobs for a large number of the rural population. At the same time, against the backdrop of war and mobilization, a serious issue has arisen about the shortage of labor resources in the village, which poses a threat to the fulfillment of tasks to ensure food security of the state, stable foreign exchange earnings from the export of agricultural products and the proper conduct of the spring sowing campaign of 2025," the MP said.

The parliamentarians propose to define farms that have less than 500 hectares of agricultural land under cultivation as important for the national economy in a special period, and to lower the threshold for the number of hectares, employees and livestock, taking into account the need for seasonal work, especially for the preservation of the livestock complex. In addition, the deputies propose to keep records of the compliance of enterprises not by the last calendar quarter, but from the period of introduction of legislative changes. This will allow for a more prompt assessment of the compliance of farms with the new requirements, the relevant committee said.
