No need to introduce additional price regulation today – Economy Ministry

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine constantly monitors price dynamics both in general and for individual categories of goods, there is currently no need to introduce additional price regulation, said Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Andriy Teliupa.

"We currently see no need to introduce additional price regulation, but we are closely monitoring the market to ensure that there is no abuse of market power or collusion between market participants," he said in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

Teliupa noted that price regulation should be an extreme measure of influence, unless we are talking about monopoly markets.

"We support market regulation and deregulation of pricing as much as possible. Therefore, we have only introduced maximum trade margins on socially significant goods twice and temporarily limited the cost of fuel," the deputy minister of economy emphasized.

As reported, inflation in Ukraine, which fell to 5.1% in 2023 after a jump a year earlier to 26.6%, rose to 12% by the end of 2024.
