Nikolaev district administration shared details of winter weather conditions

In Nikolaevsky district, 90% of winter crops successfully survived the winter, and 10% are in a weakened or rare condition.

This was reported to a Ukrinform correspondent by the director of the department of the agricultural sector of the Nikolaev district state administration, Elena Piskun.

“Last fall, we laid a solid foundation for this year's harvest by sowing 665,000 hectares of winter crops, including 522,000 hectares of grain and 143,200 hectares of rapeseed. By the time the vegetation has fully recovered, we expect that up to 10% of winter crops may remain weak and sparse. We are currently focusing our efforts on supporting these winter crops,” Piskun explained.

The remaining area includes 175,000 hectares of grain, 27,000 hectares of potatoes and vegetables, 2,900 hectares of food and melon crops, and 16,000 hectares of forage crops.

The spring sowing campaign has already started in the region: farmers are planting barley, peas, flax and various vegetable crops.
