MODUS X has prevented nearly 140 million cyber attacks since the start of full-scale war – CEO

The company's CEO Dmitry Osyka reported that since the start of the full-scale war, the IT company MODUS X has successfully stopped over 137.5 million cyberattack attempts, which is an average of 125,000 attempts daily during this period.

“We have strengthened the security center team, which now operates 24/7. We are faced with millions of attacks: from simple DDoS attacks to more complex threats aimed at stealing passwords and credentials. For example, since the start of the full-scale war, we have managed to prevent more than 137.5 million cyberattacks, which is an average of 125 thousand attempts daily,” Osyka said in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

According to him, any business, especially in the current conditions, must ensure at least a minimum level of cyber protection.

He also stressed that the demand for cybersecurity has changed since the war began, as many companies, realizing the number of breaches in sectors such as telecommunications, understand the serious consequences of cyberattacks. However, the implementation of cybersecurity technologies still depends on the capabilities and maturity level of the company. He explained that companies always weigh the level of risk against the investment required before making decisions.

“While advanced cyber defense may seem like ‘space technology’ to many, I am confident that within a year or two it will become commonplace,” Osyka predicted.

Cyberattacks on DTEK: There were no successful hacks, but serious incidents did occur

When asked whether there had been successful hacker attacks on DTEK, the CEO of MODUS X responded:

“Successful attacks? No, none of that. But serious incidents? Absolutely. There have been attacks of such intensity that we had to defend against them for a month. You quickly understand who you are dealing with. If the attack is professional, you have to be ready to work around the clock. That is why, since the beginning of the war, we have switched to 24/7 cybersecurity monitoring. Our teams are constantly on standby, and the key to our rapid response is the AI-based technology we use to analyze threats.”

MODUS X: Strengthening digitalization and entering European markets

In the same interview, Dmytro Osyka reported that the average digitalization project in MODUS X costs from 5 to 8 million hryvnia, which is enough to create the necessary digital infrastructure.

MODUS X was founded in late 2022, spinning off as an independent entity from the DTEK energy holding company after completing the three-year Modus digital transformation program for the DTEK Group. The company was created to enhance its market competitiveness both domestically and internationally.

While DTEK remains the owner of MODUS X, the company is now focused on expanding its customer base beyond the energy holding, targeting external customers in Ukraine and abroad. MODUS X is actively preparing to enter the European market, with Poland being its main focus due to the presence of DTEK as a key customer. However, the company is also considering expansion into other markets, including the United States.

Growing customer base and market influence

Since March 2024, MODUS X has attracted 14 new clients outside the DTEK Group, including large Ukrainian enterprises in the areas of retail, banking, automotive distribution, agriculture and food production.

In the energy sector, MODUS X now holds at least a 25% share as an IT service provider. The company currently employs 700 specialists.

CEO Dmitry Osyka emphasized that MODUS X has already implemented more than 400 projects, primarily for the DTEK Group, many of which, especially those related to DTEK Energy and renewable energy sources (RES), can be adapted for other businesses.
