Mixing towels with clothes: why it's wrong, and what experts warn about

We all want to make the laundry process as simple as possible, and many people think that the best way to achieve this is to throw as many items as possible into the washing machine. However, despite our desire to save time, this can actually lead to our clothes getting dirtier, reports Ukr.Media.

Personal hygiene experts warn us that mixing towels with clothes is a bad idea. Even leaving wet towels in the same laundry basket with other items may not be the best idea. In fact, such common habits can lead to the reproduction of microbes in much greater quantities than we realize.

For example, bath towels, which can be full of bacteria, and kitchen towels, which are contaminated with E. coli. This circumstance emphasizes the importance of washing items separately to avoid the transfer of germs.

As for washing temperature, it is recommended to use a mode between 40° and 60°C for towels. However, as with any other garment, remember to carefully read the information on the label before placing them in the machine.

Another important rule is that you should never leave wet towels unattended, as they become a great breeding ground for bacteria and mold. Moisture can create unpleasant odors, which is completely undesirable after a nice shower or bath.
