Lithuania officially announces closure of two checkpoints on border with Belarus
This was reported by Ukrinform citing the national broadcaster LRT.
It is noted that "this decision aims to respond apprriately to changes in the geitical situation and threats to national security, to prevent smuggling of goods."
After the termination of work at these checkpoints, border guards will be transferred to other checkpoints. Traffic will be directed to the recently reconstructed Medininkai checkpoint. It uses an X-ray contr system, which is not available at the two closed checkpoints.

Currently, only light vehicles pass through the Šumskas checkpoint, and light vehicles and empty trucks pass through Tveričius.
As reported, the head of the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service, Rustamas Liubajevas announced the closure of two checkpoints on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border last week.
