Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is trying to drag Belarus into war. Roads are being built towards Ukraine and artillery positions are being set up in the border areas of Belarus.
The president announced this based on the results of a report by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
“We are recording attempts by the Russian contingent to regroup forces – most likely to compensate for the shortage of personnel. In this regard, it becomes more obvious why the activity of the armed forces was increased on the territory of Belarus,” Zelensky said.
He reported that intelligence is recording the construction of roads in the border areas of Belarus and the establishment of artillery positions.
“We believe that Russia will once again try to drag Belarus into its war. I have instructed the relevant channels to warn the de facto leadership of Belarus about Ukraine's readiness to defend its land and independence,” Zelensky said.
The President added that he discussed further Ukrainian operations for long-range strikes on Russian territory with the Commander-in-Chief.
