
US President's Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner flew from Miami to Geneva to participate in a new round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US and Russia, as well as nuclear negotiations with Iran.
This was reported on the social network X by Axios journalist Barak Ravid.
“White House representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have traveled to Geneva for nuclear talks with Iran and peace talks between Russia and Ukraine,” Ravid wrote.
According to the Flightradar24 project, two business jets used by Witkoff and Kushner departed from Miami in the same direction.
Earlier, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and Head of the Ukrainian Delegation Rustem Umerov reported that the Ukrainian negotiating delegation has already arrived in Geneva, Switzerland. The next round of trilateral talks in the Ukraine-US-Russia format to end the war is scheduled to take place on February 17-18.
What is known about the peace talks between Ukraine, the United States and Russia?
On December 14–15, 2025, in Berlin, a Ukrainian delegation led by Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with the United States on a 20-point peace plan to end the war. Following the meeting, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov said that the conversation was “productive, and the parties managed to achieve some progress.”
On December 24, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that the parties discussed four documents during the talks. According to him, Washington is trying to understand what maximum Moscow is willing to do to end the aggression.
On December 28, Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. The presidents agreed on a 20-point peace plan that was 90% complete and security guarantees were 100%. They then held a joint telephone conversation with European leaders to discuss further meetings to finalize these documents.
Russia also reviewed the documents regarding the end of the war against Ukraine, but did not give clear consent.
Trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on January 23-24. The discussions focused on ending the war and furthering the peace process.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Umerov noted that the goal of the negotiations is “progressing towards a dignified and lasting peace.” A White House representative described the meeting as “productive” in a comment to the Public.
Zelensky previously emphasized that the key issue remains the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and the Ukrainian delegation expects specific answers from Russia regarding the end of the war.
Negotiations involving the Ukrainian, American, and Russian sides were held in Abu Dhabi on February 4 and 5. Umerov said that during the two days of negotiations in Abu Dhabi, the delegations of Ukraine, the United States, and the Russian Federation discussed, in particular, methods for implementing a ceasefire and monitoring the cessation of hostilities.
On February 13, it became known that the next round of talks between the United States, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation will take place on February 17-18 in Geneva. Advisor to the President of Ukraine Dmytro Lytvyn confirmed this during a conversation with Suspilny, and earlier this was stated by the Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peeskov.
On February 14, Umerov said that an energy truce could be discussed at the talks in Geneva.
On February 15, Zelensky reported on the consultations he held with Trump representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner before the meeting in Geneva.
