Ukraine is ready for negotiations to end the war with Russia, but the latter has not provided its response regarding the meeting next week.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening address.
“Our negotiating team is constantly working – the guys are in touch with the American side. Ukraine is ready for meetings. Unfortunately, we still don't have enough firm answers from Russia about what is proposed for next week. So far, all we hear is another manipulation with Oreshnik, this is definitely not about peace,” he said.
According to the president, Ukraine needs support and sufficient pressure on Russia.
“The war needs to end with guaranteed security and certainly without any rewards for the aggressor for the war. These are prerequisites so that Europe is not simply swept away by other Russian strikes – new aggressions and the same massive attacks against other European states as we are currently repelling in Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
On February 11, in a comment to Bloomberg, Zelensky said that Kyiv had accepted Washington's offer to hold another round of talks between Ukrainian and American delegations in the United States next week on ending Russia's war against Ukraine. According to him, this meeting should take place on February 17 or 18.
