US announces strike on drug boat in Pacific Ocean

The US military has destroyed a vessel it said was being used to smuggle drugs in the eastern Pacific.

This was reported by the US Southern Command on the social network X.

“On February 9, at the direction of the Commander of the Southern Command, General Francis Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a lethal strike on a vessel operated by designated terrorist organizations. Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was transiting known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was participating in drug trafficking operations,” the post states.

According to the military, two “narco-terrorists died and one survived.”

“Following the strike, the US Southern Command immediately notified the US Coast Guard to activate the search and rescue system for survivors,” the statement said.
