Ukraine will open access to partners to train AI models for unmanned systems based on battlefield data

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to launch a pilot project that opens up access to partners to train AI models for unmanned systems based on real battlefield data.

This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko.

According to her, this is a new format of cooperation between the government, Ukrainian arms manufacturers, and international partners.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers explained that weapons manufacturers will have access to a special AI platform developed by the Ministry of Defense, which will allow for safe and high-quality training of models without access to sensitive databases.

“This will help accelerate the development of autonomous systems and the implementation of new technological solutions for the front. Ukraine today has a unique array of battlefield data that is not found anywhere else in the world. That is why companies have a great demand for such data for the development of defense technologies,” says Svyrydenko.

At the same time, the Prime Minister notes, for the Ukrainian Defense Forces this means even more technological capabilities to more effectively detect and strike the enemy on the battlefield.

In January of this year, the press service of the Brave1 defense cluster reported that a secure Brave1 Dataroom environment was being launched in Ukraine, which will use battlefield data to test and train new artificial intelligence models for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense previously reported that the positions of digital transformation specialists are being introduced in the Ukrainian military.
