The Kremlin said that peace talks are currently “on pause”, but asserted that they will continue to negotiate with Kyiv about exchanges.

The Kremlin has said that trilateral peace talks on the terms of ending the war in Ukraine are currently “on hold.” At the same time, it claims that Moscow will continue to contact Kyiv on the issues of prisoner exchange and repatriation of the bodies of fallen servicemen.

This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of Kremlin head Vladimir Putin, in an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia.

“The trilateral group is on pause…”, he said, specifying that the Russian leader's special representative, Kirill Dmitriev, continues to work within the bilateral working group between the Russian Federation and the United States.

Putin's press secretary also claims that the Kremlin intends to negotiate new prisoner exchanges and the repatriation of the bodies of fallen soldiers.

“Work in this direction will definitely be continued,” Peskov added briefly.

On March 18, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Americans, due to the war against Iran, are proposing to hold another round of talks on Ukraine on their territory, and Kyiv agrees to this, but Moscow is categorically against meetings in the United States. He also said that despite this, the members of the negotiating teams communicate with each other daily.

“President (Donald — ed.) Trump is focused on Iran. The negotiating teams are talking to each other. Our team is talking to the American side every day. I know that the Americans are also talking to the Russians every day,” the head of state explained.
