Sweden is preparing one of the largest aid packages for Ukraine: air defense, drones and new radars

Sweden is preparing one of the largest security assistance packages for Ukraine, which will include air defense, radars, drones, and electronic warfare systems.

This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held talks with Swedish Defense Minister Poul Jonsson on a large-scale security assistance package for Ukraine. It will include air defense systems and radars from the Swedish company Saab, as well as drones, including Deep Strike, and additional electronic warfare systems.

The Head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine thanked Sweden for its continued support and new investments in Ukrainian defense. The parties focused on several key areas of cooperation:

  • Strengthening air defense and countering ballistic threats: Additional contributions to the PURL initiative will help the Ukrainian military obtain critical weapons, including means of countering ballistic missiles.
  • Defense Innovation Partnership: The Brave–Sweden co-financing program will allow defense companies to attract grant funds and test new solutions directly at the front.
  • Launch of joint production in the field of defense tech: the parties are working to accelerate the production of Ukrainian security solutions in Sweden.

In addition, the aviation component of the assistance was discussed – the possible supply of Gripen aircraft and Meteor missiles, which are key to countering aircraft carrying guided bombs.

Fedorov emphasized that the new aid package will be one of Sweden's largest contributions to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and will contribute to the faster modernization of the Ukrainian army.
