On the night of Sunday, February 22, Poland sent fighter jets into the sky and prepared air defenses due to the Russian attack on Ukraine.
This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces in X.
The air force of Poland and its allies is on duty in the sky: fighter jets and early warning aircraft have been scrambled. In addition, ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been put on alert.
The command explains: these measures are necessary due to the activities of the Russian long-range aviation that night, which is carrying out strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
“These actions are preventive in nature. The operational command is monitoring the current situation, and subordinate forces and assets remain ready for immediate response,” the press release said.
The previous time Poland scrambled fighter jets was on February 17, also due to a Russian air attack on Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian military is attacking Ukraine with drones and missiles. Explosions were heard several times during the night in Kyiv and Kropyvnytskyi, and the sounds of explosions were also recorded in Poltava, Mykolaiv, and the Kyiv region.
