One million euros for a tip: Germany seeks those responsible for Berlin blackout

Germany has offered a reward of up to one million euros for information on those involved in arson attacks on a power grid in Berlin that caused widespread power outages and is being investigated as a possible act of terrorism.

Tagesschau writes about this.

The German Federal Criminal Police Office, together with the Federal Prosecutor General, have appealed to the public for help in identifying those involved in the arson of several high-voltage power lines in Berlin in early January.

Law enforcement is offering a reward of up to one million euros for information leading to the identification of the perpetrators of the attack. The appeal to witnesses will continue until February 24, 2026.

Berlin's senator for the interior, Iris Spranger, called the reward “a unique event” and said she could not remember a public appeal for witnesses on such a large scale. The aim, she said, was to help solve a possible terrorist act in cooperation with federal law enforcement.
