New deadline from the US: Zelenskyy responded to rumors about Trump's intention to end the war in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on rumors about a possible deadline from the United States to end the war by July 4.

The president stated this at the final press conference following the results of the summit “Ukraine – the countries of Northern Europe and the Baltics”.

Journalists asked Zelensky whether he was familiar with the likely deadline from the US to end the war in Ukraine by July 4. The president replied that this was new information for him, and he did not yet have detailed information about the specific date.

At the same time, Zelensky noted that the issue of ending the war as soon as possible is being raised in negotiations with the United States, and Ukraine supports a fast track in this direction.

“In any case, during the negotiations, both the Ukrainian and US sides raised the issue that there is a desire and vision to end this war as soon as possible. We support a fast track to ending the war. But fast track is not about us giving up part of our territories,” the president emphasized.

Today, February 24, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the United States is pushing for an agreement on Ukraine before the celebration of the 250th anniversary of independence on July 4.

At the same time, senior European officials and NATO representatives note that there are currently no signs that Vladimir Putin is ready to agree to conditions that do not meet his basic demands.

Note that this is not the first deadline from the US side. In November 2025, US President Donald Trump said in an interview that his administration had set a deadline of November 27, by which Ukraine must agree to the White House's “peace plan” to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
