Naftogaz is importing American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine for the first time through a terminal in the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda.
This was announced by the head of the company, Serhiy Koretsky.
According to him, the volume of LNG supplies from the US to Klaipeda is 90 million cubic meters and is provided in partnership between Naftogaz and the Lithuanian state energy holding Ignitis Group. Then, Ukrainian specialists will independently deliver the blue fuel to Ukraine during February-March.
Koretsky assured that Naftogaz is systematically working to diversify gas supplies, expanding both sources and import routes.
“This is necessary to increase the reliability and continuity of gas supplies to our consumers, especially in the face of constant Russian attacks on gas and energy infrastructure facilities,” the official added.
On February 23, Naftogaz reported that Ukraine had imported American LNG for the first time through the German Deutsche ReGas terminal on the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea.
In November 2025, Naftogaz agreed with the Polish company ORLEN to supply at least 300 million cubic meters of American liquefied natural gas to Ukraine.
