Jonas Gar Stere explained Norway's position on Ukrainian male refugees

The country's Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, stated that the issue of mobilization is an internal matter of Ukraine, and Oslo is focused on creating a stable support mechanism for those arriving in Norway.

He stated this during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Suspilne reports.

During a conversation with journalists, the Prime Minister of Norway commented on discussions regarding the possible return of Ukrainian male refugees to Ukraine.

According to him, Norway does not send Ukrainians back.

“We are not sending people home from Norway. More than 100,000 refugees from Ukraine have arrived here. In recent months, the number of young people arriving has been growing,” he noted.

Stere noted that the country is acting in accordance with immigration legislation and is undergoing the necessary legislative procedures to ensure a correct and stable mechanism for the stay of Ukrainians.

“The process of training and protection in Ukraine is an internal matter of Ukraine, it is not something we participate in. Therefore, we want to create a stable mechanism for people who go to Norway. Our work is finished on this. We also maintain contact with our Ukrainian partners on this issue,” Stere concluded.
