Vladyslav Geraskevych's lawyer at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Yevhen Pronin, spoke on the Pershyi TV channel about the details of the court hearing in the case of the skeleton athlete's disqualification from the 2026 Olympic Games.
After skeleton athlete Vladyslav Geraskevych was disqualified from the 2026 Olympics for intending to wear a “memory helmet” with portraits of deceased Ukrainian athletes to the competition, the athlete filed an appeal with CAS under a special procedure. Following a hearing that lasted two and a half hours and almost six hours of deliberation, CAS ruled in favor of the IOC and IBSF.
The CAS decision was based on the recognition that “freedom of expression is guaranteed at the Olympic Games”, but sided with the IOC and IBSF, stating that it was not a “sports ground or playing field”.
