
On May 18-19, G7 finance ministers and central bank governors, including European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis, are meeting in Paris to discuss sanctions against Russia and further support for Ukraine.
This is reported by the correspondent of Suspilny, citing a statement from the European Commission.
“G7 partners are expected to pay particular attention to Ukraine's financial needs, further international assistance, and coordination of actions. The issue of sanctions against Russia will also be considered,” the statement said.
European Commissioner Dombrovskis will inform participants about preparations for the first tranche of the loan in support of Ukraine, expected in June.
In addition to Ukraine, ministers and central bank governors will discuss global imbalances, energy challenges, economic security, critical minerals, combating illicit financial flows, as well as the impact of new technologies and extreme weather events. The Middle East conflict and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz are also on the agenda, the statement said.
