The first teaser for the new Harry Potter television adaptation garnered 277 million organic views across all platforms in its first 48 hours online, becoming the most popular trailer in HBO and HBO Max history.

This is reported by Deadline.

The series, based on the fantasy book series by J.K. Rowling, will premiere on HBO on Christmas Day 2026 and will stream on HBO Max. The first season will begin with the novel “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.”

The main roles are played by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alistair Stout as Ron Weasley.

The series also stars John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Papa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.

Fans' reactions have been mixed, ranging from nostalgic joy to criticism. Users are praising the casting (in particular, the actor who plays Severus Snape, Paapa Essiedu, is being actively discussed), Hans Zimmer's soundtrack, the atmosphere of the upcoming film adaptation, and more.
