The House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada has adopted a resolution calling for providing Ukraine with reliable security guarantees.
This resolution was submitted to the deputies for consideration by Ivan Baker and received unanimous support, Ukrinform reports.
“The House of Commons supports providing Ukraine with reliable and legally binding security guarantees,” the document states.
Canadian parliamentarians also called on Russia to stop its aggression against Ukraine and withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territories.
“The House of Commons strongly condemns Russia's continued and deliberate attacks on energy infrastructure, which deprive civilians of heat, electricity and access to basic services,” the resolution states.
The MPs also reaffirmed “the Government of Canada's unwavering support for Ukraine, its territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders and territorial waters.”
The adopted document does not legally bind the Canadian government, but expresses the political will of the country's parliament.
On February 24, the Canadian government announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 2 billion Canadian dollars for the period 2026-2027 and imposed sanctions against 100 vessels of the Russian shadow fleet.
