The Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation stated that, in accordance with the agreements between the leaders of the countries, Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, the parties “settled” the consequences of the plane crash of the Embraer 190 aircraft of the AZAL airline, which occurred on December 25, 2024 in Aktau, Kazakhstan.
This is stated in the relevant statements of the Azerbaijani and Russian foreign ministries.
It is noted that, in particular, “the issue of compensation payments” has been agreed, the details of which are not disclosed.
Baku and Moscow also stated that the crash of the AZAL airliner near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan occurred “as a result of an unintentional action by an air defense system in the airspace of the Russian Federation.”
“The steps taken confirm the mutual desire to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of allied cooperation,” the statements of the departments of both countries say.
