The perpetrators of the terrorist attack in the center of Lviv were recruited by Russians through Telegram. The Office of the President has proposed restricting access to this popular messenger.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk noted that the terrorist attack in Lviv is another reminder of the threat of anonymous platforms in Ukraine during the war.
Why does Vereshchuk propose to restrict Telegram?
The official noted that the aggressor systematically uses Telegram to recruit terrorists, coordinate their activities, and carry out terrorist attacks.
If to protect the lives of our people and to protect national security we have to limit the capabilities of these (anonymous – 24 Channel) platforms, then we have to do it,
– Vereshchuk emphasized.
We remind you that in Ukraine there are already certain restrictions on Telegram. In 2024, the use of Telegram on official devices of civil servants, military personnel, and critical infrastructure workers was banned. The ban applies only to official computers and work correspondence. This does not affect citizens' personal smartphones. State bodies can continue to maintain official Telegram channels.

At night, the police received a call about an alleged illegal entry into a store at 20 Danylyshyna Street. When the patrol police crew arrived at the scene of the call, an explosion was heard. After another crew arrived, a second explosion occurred.
