On Wednesday, February 18, Ukraine imposed sanctions against the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, for his direct involvement in supporting Russian aggression in Ukraine.

This was reported in a comment to Channel 24 Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi.

Why did Ukraine impose sanctions against Lukashenko?

According to Tykhy, the decision to impose sanctions against the Belarusian dictator has several good reasons.

Lukashenko is an accomplice in Russian aggression against Ukraine – he is actually facilitating the war by ensuring the supply of necessary components and resources for the Russian army. Earlier, the head of state reported on at least three thousand Belarusian enterprises that “feed” the Russian war in Ukraine.

The spokesman also added that a location network operates on the territory of Belarus, which Russian troops use to strike at the northern regions of Ukraine.

By the way! Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that after the deployment of a network of repeaters for controlling strike drones on the territory of Belarus, the enemy's capabilities have significantly expanded. Since then, Russia has been able to attack Northern Ukraine from the Kyiv region to Volyn. And most of the attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure would not have been possible without the help of Minsk.

According to Tykhy, Lukashenko had contacts with the so-called “Gauleiters” appointed by the Russian leadership, and declared his readiness to cooperate with the occupied regions.

What restrictions against Lukashenko are in effect from today?

We will remind you that on February 18, Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a decree introducing sanctions against the self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

According to the published document, the assets of the President of Belarus have been frozen. From now on, there is a ban on using and disposing of them. In addition, the sanctions include the suspension of trade operations, cancellation of licenses, and a ban on participation in privatization and government procurement.

Also, after February 18, cultural, scientific, and sports cooperation will cease, and Lukashenko himself will be prohibited from entering Ukraine and purchasing land plots here.
