US Presidential Special Representative Steve Witkoff will participate in the negotiations between the US, Ukrainian and Russian delegations. The meeting of politicians will take place on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi.

Who will participate in the meeting?

According to media reports, a US official confirmed that Steve Witkoff will arrive in Israel on February 3, where he will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu and other senior officials.

After that, the US President's special representative will travel to the United Arab Emirates for another round of negotiations.

It is worth noting that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously stated that Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner would not go to the next round of talks with Russia and Ukraine, but US participation is “likely.”

Important! President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that a meeting dedicated to preparations for new negotiations will be held on February 2. On Monday evening, the Ukrainian negotiating team will also leave for the meeting place.

How did the previous round go?

  • Trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia took place in Abu Dhabi on December 23 and 24. Following the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that there were fewer problematic issues.

  • According to media reports, the parties discussed the creation of a demilitarized zone in eastern Ukraine, particularly in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian and American diplomats considered the possibility of deploying peacekeepers from neutral countries as an alternative to NATO forces, which Moscow strongly opposes.

  • At the same time, Politico reported that negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia in the UAE have reached an impasse due to disagreements over territories, security guarantees, and a ceasefire.
