Recall that during this exchange, servicemen of various ranks were released: privates, sergeants, and officers. They performed combat missions in various parts of the front – in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, and Kherson regions, as well as in Mariupol.
Most of them had been in Russian captivity for over a year, and some had been there as early as 2022.
A poignant story about a prisoner exchange

Kristina waited almost two years for her husband, Oleksandr, to return from Russian captivity. Before the full-scale invasion, the couple lived in the Berdyansk district of Zaporizhzhia region, and after leaving the occupation, her husband immediately went to defend Ukraine and was later captured, where he spent about 23 months. On March 5, he finally returned home.

The first words he said to his wife were: “I love you.” Kristina admitted that she was now overwhelmed with emotions and very happy that her husband had returned, and also wished all Ukrainians to wait for their relatives from captivity and never lose hope.

Immediately after his release, Oleksandr called his children. During the conversation, his daughter could not hold back her tears. The children admitted that they missed their father very much. The man reassured them and said that he would be home soon and that he loved them very much.
