People's Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko has repeatedly ignored court hearings in the case of the illegal imprisonment and beating of a former GUR special forces soldier Kraken. So this time, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Dnipro ordered the deputy to be brought into custody on May 14.
This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office in a comment to Hromadske.
Why did the court make such a decision?
Recall that the case of the People's Deputy is related to the illegal detention and beating of former military special unit GUR Kraken Dmytro Mazokha in Dnipro. The court is currently examining the written evidence of the prosecution.
The prosecutor's office also noted that Tyshchenko had already been fined 3,328 hryvnias for missing court hearings, but he continues to fail to attend court hearings.
After another failure to appear, the prosecutor filed a motion with the court to compel Tyshchenko to appear. The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Dnipro recognized the reasons for his absence as disrespectful and decided to compel the MP to appear at the next hearing, scheduled for May 14.
Interesting! On February 26, 2026, People's Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko joined the deputy party “Restoration of Ukraine”, the vast majority of which is made up of representatives of the former political force “OPZZH”. Tyshchenko's joining actually saved the party from collapse, since due to the conviction of Anatoly Hunko for bribery, it was reduced to 16 people.
What are the details of the Tyshchenko case?
A video was posted online showing people in balaclavas in Dnipro holding a civilian man who was walking with a baby right on the street. Later, footage appeared showing People's Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko. It was assumed that the deputy's security was involved in the incident. The incident occurred on June 20 at around 1:45 p.m. on Yavornytskyi Avenue in Dnipro.
At the same time, Tyshchenko reported that he had come to Dnipro to check information about the activities of bot farms and call centers that carry out fraudulent activities against Ukrainians.
A few days later, on June 25, 2024, the People's Deputy received suspicion of the illegal deprivation of liberty of a former serviceman.
In December of the same year, the case went to court. The MP faces up to 5 years in prison. The judges chose a preventive measure for Tyshchenko in the form of night house arrest.
However, on October 9, 2025, the detention was softened, replacing it with a two-month arrest on personal recognizance, until December 9.
