No significant differences are currently expected between this March and the same period last year. Temperatures will not differ significantly from the climate norm.
This was reported by Ivan Semilyt, a representative of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, in an exclusive interview for Channel 24 .
What will March be like this year?
The weather forecaster explained that comparing the weather over 2 years is not indicative, since it is usually analyzed relative to the climate norm formed based on data from 1991 to 2020, which allows for high-quality comparative analyses.
As for the current forecasts, we do not expect any significant changes that would differ from the climatic norm… We expect that only in the Western, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia and Odessa regions the average monthly temperature will be 1.5 – 2.5 degrees higher than the norm,
– he explained.
But let us note that last year, the average monthly air temperature in Ukraine in March was predicted to be from 1 to 7 degrees Celsius, which is 1 to 1.5 degrees above normal. However, the results were slightly higher.
The Ukrhydrometeorological Center reported that March 2025 was abnormally warm, the average monthly air temperature during that period was 2.4–5.8 degrees higher than the climatic norm, and precipitation was mostly in the form of rain.
This year, forecasters are again predicting an average monthly temperature ranging from 1 to 7 degrees Celsius.

What was predicted for March?

It has already been reported that at least in the first decade of March, severe frosts, down to -20 degrees, are not expected in Ukraine. Significant drops in temperature are possible, but currently forecasters do not see any trends towards such changes.
