In Russia, payments to contract workers were cut 10 times – how Putin has now decided to encourage Russians to fight

Putin signed a law that writes off overdue loans from contract workers if they do not exceed 10 million rubles. Thanks to such social bonuses, the Russian state manages to drive Russians to war.

This was stated by political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman in an interview with Channel 24 , adding that it has become the norm in Russian families to have conversations that it is more expedient to go to the front today, because this allows you to solve a number of financial problems.

Russia “cut” payments to contract workers

Commenting on the information that the Russian dictator approved such an initiative to write off debts, the political strategist emphasized that this is, of course, a bonus, but there is no special incentive, because the conscript does not receive anything in addition. Things are bad in Russia with payments now. Even Russian propagandists are already talking about this.

Sobchak wrote about how payments were reduced in a number of regions. They fell 10 times. If earlier a citizen could receive 30 thousand dollars for going to war, now it is 3 thousand. There is simply no money,
– said Sheitelman.

He explained that Russia's federal budget has a deficit. In January-April, it reached 5.8 trillion rubles. Sanctions and regular strikes by Ukrainian weapons of mass destruction on Russian refineries are being used as a sign.

But there are also local budgets, and the deficit there is many times greater. There is no money physically, so Russia is forced to reduce payments to contract workers. The governors reason that it is better to get a fine for not fulfilling the plan within the framework of recruiting than to give the last money to the “lift” and not be able to provide for other regional expenses.

What will the reduction in “lifting” lead to?

This, as the political strategist emphasized, will reduce the number of Russians who will go to war. It is one thing to go to the front, knowing that you will be provided for for many years afterwards, having received a large sum of money, and it is quite another to go and die for your six-month salary.

They, by the way, know that they are going to die. If we don't take Moscow, but other small towns, then they know that a neighbor's husband bought a carpet or a car, or renovated a house, but did not return. They understand that they need to send someone from the family to die, a son or a husband, in order to provide for the family. This is standard Russian practice,
– stated Sheitelman.

But today, against the backdrop of significant cuts in payments for signing contracts with the Ministry of Defense, the mood of Russians is changing. They consider it inexpedient to go to war for small sums that they can already earn at their jobs in a few months. The political strategist is sure that the number of people willing to join the Russian army will now decrease.

Mobilization orders have begun to be actively handed out in Russia

There have been more frequent cases of military registration and enlistment offices summoning Russian citizens ostensibly to clarify data, while handing them mobilization orders indicating where and when they should arrive if mobilization is announced. Military expert Roman Svitan expressed the opinion that Putin will struggle to scrape together the necessary 100,000 contract soldiers this year, but is already preparing plans for 2027 and may resort to forced mobilization to ensure the implementation of the spring-summer campaign next year.

He states that recruitment is no longer bringing the desired results, it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit people into the army, and the economic situation in Russia is worsening. In the event of a mobilization announcement, Svitan predicts that the enemy will be able to gather up to 400 thousand soldiers, and this process may begin as early as this summer. According to him, the Russians, who are forced into war, will not be able to conduct offensive operations qualitatively, because unlike contract soldiers (who receive “lifting”), these mobilized recruits will have no incentive to fight at all.
