Frosts in Ukraine April 24 – 25, 2026 – where there will be a cold snap

A number of regions of Ukraine will soon experience another cold snap. In particular, frosts and strong gusts of wind are expected on April 24-25.

The Ukrhydrometeorological Center warned about dangerous natural and meteorological phenomena.

Where to expect frost?

Forecasters note that on the night of April 24, the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions, as well as the Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava and Kharkiv regions, will experience frosts of 0 – – 3 degrees. The II (orange) level of danger has been declared for these regions.

Please note! The orange level indicates a real threat to people, infrastructure, and the environment – in this case, you need to minimize risks and be very careful.

In the remaining territories, frosts of 0 – -5 degrees are expected on the soil surface. This is the first level of danger, yellow.

By the way, frosts harm plants by forming ice in their cells, which destroys their structure. The flowers and ovaries suffer the most, which reduces yield.

Important! A yellow warning level means potentially dangerous weather conditions, so you should be attentive, cautious, and monitor forecast updates.

At the same time, on the afternoon of April 24, in the Carpathian Mountains, in the eastern, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, there will be strong wind gusts of 15-20 meters per second. This is the I (yellow) level of danger.

Similar weather conditions are forecast for the night of April 25. In Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava and Kharkiv regions, frosts in the air are expected to reach 0…-3, which corresponds to the orange level of danger. In other regions, except for the western ones, frosts on the soil surface are possible to reach 0…-5, which is classified as the yellow level.

What is the weather like in April?

• According to Ivan Semilyt's forecasts, rain and wet snow are expected in Ukraine at the end of the week and throughout the next. The air temperature will range from approximately +1 to +17 degrees, depending on the region.

• But on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirsky, difficult conditions are already being recorded. Frost, snow, and fog reign there. Rescuers are urging people to refrain from hiking in the highlands.

• On April 23, weather conditions also worsened in Kyiv and the Kyiv region: local residents reported heavy hail and occasional dust storms, which made visibility and traffic on the roads difficult and increased the risk of accidents.
