Expert spoke about Russia's problems in the war

Main points

  • Russia is facing problems on the front lines. In particular, it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to recruit people for the war.
  • Executive Director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation Dmytro Zhmaylo spoke about Russia's problems in the war.

Russia still has a significant advantage in terms of personnel on the front. But the Defense Forces have built a system that effectively destroys the enemy.

Executive Director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation Dmytro Zhmaylo told Channel 24 that there have already been many reports that Russia has certain problems with the number of personnel. Recruitment volumes have begun to fall.

What problems did Russia face?

According to Zhmail, a year ago, according to various sources, Russia was recruiting approximately 1,200-1,300 people into its army. Now this figure is somewhere around 800-900. And the Defense Forces are steadily knocking out 1,000+ occupiers every day.

This is gradually draining the Russian contingent. And it directly affects offensive campaigns,
– said Zhmailo.

It is unlikely that dictator Putin will risk a full-scale mobilization in the near future due to the potential negative consequences. Therefore, they are trying to solve the problem in a different way. There have already been reports that various enterprises are receiving “orders” regarding how many people should sign contracts with the Russian army.

Of course, the enemy's numerical advantage has not disappeared. But the massive use of drones does not allow Russia to fully exploit this advantage. Currently, the enemy's advances on the front are relatively insignificant.

Analysts say that the average daily advance of Russia is up to 5 square kilometers per day. These are local advances, sometimes tens of meters. But the Defense Forces are also dragging the occupiers into counterattacks. This does not give the Russians the opportunity to improve their positions. And our strategic task now is to finally slow down the Russians on the ground,
– Zhmailo noted.

What were Russia's losses in the war?

  • As of April 23, Russia had lost over 1 million 322 thousand personnel. Our defenders also destroyed 11,888 Russian tanks, 24,441 armored combat vehicles, 40,574 artillery systems, etc.
  • The head of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, Serhiy Kuzan, said in which direction the Russians are currently suffering the greatest losses. The enemy is throwing a lot of personnel there.
  • Ukrainian military forces successfully attacked an FSB special forces command post in Donetsk. The Russians suffered significant losses, including among the officers.
