I have no dialogue with anyone regarding the draft law on elections,
– Zelenskyy said.
Please note! In Ukraine, electoral legislation is written for peacetime. There are no documents that would regulate the holding of elections during wartime. Therefore, if there is indeed a decision to hold elections during wartime, appropriate legislation should be developed that would take into account all problematic issues.
In February, it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada was working on a working group to prepare legislative proposals for elections in a special or post-war period. Lawyer and former deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission Andriy Magera told Channel 24 : we are talking about elections only after the war, not during it.
Will Zelenskyy run for election, if there are any?
The guarantor has not yet decided. On March 3, his interview was published, in which the president said: he will take into account the wishes of the Ukrainians.
If the elections are held after the war ends, rather than during a temporary ceasefire, I am not at all sure that I will run,
– he said.
At the end of February, Zelenskyy turned to his partners quite sharply, saying that they should decide whether they really want elections or are simply looking for a way to get rid of him as president.
