What is known about Xiaomi 17 Max – screen, camera and launch date / Xiaomi
The Xiaomi 17 line may be expanded with another model in 2026 – the Xiaomi 17 Max. According to rumors, the smartphone will rely on a record-breaking battery, a large display and flagship performance, but without some of the design decisions of older versions.
Xiaomi already has several flagships in the Xiaomi 17 series, and now, according to leaks, it is preparing another model – Xiaomi 17 Max. Although there is no official confirmation, numerous insiders allow us to get a fairly clear idea of the upcoming device. This is reported by Gizmochina .
How will the Xiaomi 17 Max differ from other models in the series?
8000mAh battery is the main attraction. The most talked-about feature of the Xiaomi 17 Max is its 8000mAh battery. This is larger than the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which is rumored to have a 7500mAh battery.
In comparison, flagships from Samsung or Apple do not offer such a capacity. This indicator will allow Xiaomi to focus on several days of autonomy, active gaming and long video viewing without recharging.
Support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging is expected. The Pro Max is also said to have the same specs, along with 22.5W reverse wireless charging.
Large flat OLED display. The name Max hints at a large screen. According to preliminary data, the smartphone will receive a flat OLED display with a diagonal of 6.8 or 6.9 inches. For comparison, the Pro Max has a 6.9-inch 2K OLED panel with a frequency of 120 Hz.
At the same time, the Xiaomi 17 Max will not get the second display on the back, which is attributed to the Pro and Pro Max models. A well-known insider Digital Chat Station reports that the Max design will be closer to the standard Xiaomi 17.
This approach will help maintain a clear hierarchy in the line: Pro Max will remain more experimental, and Max will focus on autonomy and scale without complicating the design.
Flagship Snapdragon processor. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip is expected to be the same as the one found in the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. This means the same level of performance in gaming, multitasking, and working with AI features.
Thus, the difference between the models will likely not be in performance, but in battery, cameras, and design.
Cameras – conflicting leaks. Information about the cameras is still mixed. Early rumors claimed that the Xiaomi 17 Max will receive the main OmniVision Light Fusion 950 sensor, like the base model, but with improved image processing. There was also mention of a periscope telephoto lens, which could outperform most models in the series, except for the Ultra.
As Huawei Central writes, later leaks suggest a much more ambitious configuration: a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HPE sensor with a size of 1/1.4 inches, a 50-megapixel periscope based on the Sony IMX8 sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
If these data are confirmed, the Xiaomi 17 Max will be significantly stronger than the standard Xiaomi 17 with three 50 MP sensors. At the same time, continued cooperation with Leica is expected.
Since the leaks don't completely match up, it's possible that the company changed the configuration at different stages of testing. For now, it's logical to assume that the 17 Max will rank above the base model in terms of camera capabilities, but below the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
Lineup and launch date. In the current hierarchy, the Xiaomi 17 is the basic flagship, the Pro and Pro Max add non-standard design elements, the Ultra focuses on mobile photography, and the Max is likely to be the model with the maximum autonomy.
The launch in China is expected in the second quarter of 2026 , likely in April. Other flagships, including the Vivo X300s and Oppo Find X9s, may also debut during the same period.
The situation is less clear for the global market. According to preliminary data, only the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra may be released internationally, while the 17 Max risks remaining exclusive to China.
