A Threads user shared her unfortunate experience buying an expensive smartphone at one of the largest electronics stores in Ukraine. According to her, instead of a new iPhone, she received a high-quality fake, and contacting the seller and service center did not help solve the problem.

This is reported by 24 Channel based on the story of user Threads. We contacted representatives of the COMFY store, where the author bought the smartphone, but at the time of publication of the article they refused to comment on the situation, but later agreed, so we are currently awaiting a response from the store.

Why did the purchase turn into a scandal?

On the social network Threads, a user with the nickname navka1 shared a story about purchasing an iPhone 17 Pro Max smartphone from the Comfy chain of electronics stores. According to her, the gadget was purchased as a birthday present for a boyfriend, and the order was placed with courier delivery.

The woman noted that the delivery was postponed several times – in the end, the courier arrived only three days after the scheduled date. When handing over the parcel, she said, the delivery service representative advised to check only the seals on the box . They were intact, so the buyer signed the delivery note without opening the packaging so as not to spoil the appearance of the gift.

The problems started after the gift was presented. When the box was opened, the smartphone could not be turned on. An attempt to connect a USB-C charging cable also did not work. Then, according to the author of the publication, it became clear that this was not a real device, but a very high-quality dummy, which in appearance and even in weight almost does not differ from the original.

After that, the woman contacted the store's support service. They, she claims, considered the request for two days, and then asked her to send the “phone” to the service center. The device was sent for inspection, but there was no response for five days. Later, she was told that the fake was confirmed, but the company could not help with a refund or exchange .

The author of the post also noted that she did not understand why the diagnostics at the service center were needed at all, if the situation did not change after it. She turned to other users with a request to share similar experiences and advice. They mentioned a similar story that happened to Anastasia from Lviv in the MOYO store. She told about this on her TikTok account.

However, in Anastasia's story with MOYO, everything ended in her favor – the store admitted the fake, agreed to refund the money and launched an internal investigation. As for the situation with COMFY, it's still too early to talk about the end of the story.

As we have already noted, the editorial staff of Channel 24 has reached out to the store's representatives, and we are currently awaiting a comment. If this story continues in the future, we will update the article.

At the same time, the author of the post has already filed an appeal with the State Service for the Protection of Consumer Rights and contacted the official Apple representative office in Ukraine, where the application was also registered.
