It is very inconvenient when a tablecloth slides across the table. In some cases, it is even dangerous, because if you accidentally pull on it, everything from the table, including hot dishes and drinks, will fly to the floor, risking burning those nearby, informs Ukr.Media.

A tablecloth will slip if it is too small or too large. It can also be caused by a lack of adhesion between the tabletop and the cloth, when both surfaces are perfectly smooth.

The problem is easily solved with the help of ordinary plastic wrap. The table should be wrapped around the entire perimeter with plastic wrap. Only in one layer, otherwise the plastic will stand out under the tablecloth.

After winding, lightly press the film to the table and you can cover it with a tablecloth again – it will no longer move around the table.

There are other options if you don't have cling film on hand. You can stick pieces of double-sided tape under the tablecloth to stick it to the table.

A tablecloth can be turned into a cover by sewing an elastic band into it (like a sheet with an elastic band).

Using clips, safety pins, or clothespins, you can connect the ends of the tablecloth and make an improvised cover.

You can also place a special silicone anti-slip pad on the table, which will not only prevent the fabric from sliding off, but also protect the tabletop from possible leaks.

For those who are ready to work more thoroughly, there is an option to make a fleece – a lining for a tablecloth. It consists of two parts: an upper layer of felt and a lower – waterproof. The soft felt absorbs spills and creates adhesion to the tabletop, and the waterproof, oilcloth-like layer prevents dirt from getting on the tabletop.
