Practical and useful tips that can help reduce the time spent cleaning

How often do you clean? I'm sure at least once a week. And many people do it more often. I found ways to save time and speed up this process, informs Ukr.Media.

My first piece of advice is to throw away or donate everything you don’t need. I went through my apartment and threw away everything I don’t need. So I started spending less time putting everything back in its place. There’s less junk in the house! Now it’s easier to keep the shelves in the closets tidy.

However, I went ahead and put some of the dishes in the kitchen out of sight. I left one plate and one cup for each member of the family. Why?

Because the same man has a habit: he eats, puts down a dirty plate, and when he decides to eat again, he takes a new one. The result is two dirty plates, which I have to wash most often! And there is also a little daughter who also does not wash the dishes after herself yet.

The second rule I try to implement in our family is that everyone cleans up after themselves. I make my daughter put away toys, throw away colored papers, candy wrappers. And I ask my husband to at least wash the dishes and put his dirty clothes in the washing machine.

The third tip is to get yourself some helpers. I changed my regular vacuum cleaner to a robot vacuum cleaner a long time ago. While I put things in their places around the house and dust them, it vacuums itself. It’s very convenient! I’m so fond of it that now I have two robot vacuum cleaners! One vacuums, the other mops the floor. But, of course, if I want more thorough wet cleaning, I mop the floors myself. I still dream of a steam mop, but for now I have a regular one.

The fourth life hack is to steam and heat up surfaces before cleaning. For example, before cleaning the kitchen, heat up a sponge in the microwave or hold it under a stream of hot water. This way, you can wipe off greasy stains faster. The same goes for cleaning pots and ovens from carbon deposits. I also heat up the bathroom! I close the door and turn on the hot shower for a couple of minutes. When the room is filled with steam, you can start cleaning the tiles and other surfaces.

Fifth tip – prevent contamination with parchment, newspapers, cling film, and even shoe covers!

For example, you can line refrigerator shelves or the tops of kitchen cabinets with cling film or parchment. Some people even line tiles with foil! There's no need to wipe off any accumulated dirt from the surface. Simply remove the cling film, parchment, or foil and replace it with a new piece.

You can also put newspaper in the bottom of the trash can. If the trash bag tears and leaks, all the moisture will be absorbed into the litter, which you can simply throw away. And the bucket will be easier to wash.

As for shoe covers, I put them near the front door in case I need to walk into the apartment with my shoes on. For example, if I forgot my keys or phone and I'm already standing with my shoes on. Another life hack that will come in handy in case of a doctor's visit.
