Online dating – Viber launches new service

Ukrainians will have the opportunity to experience early access to a new dating service introduced by Rakuten Viber. Viber Dating aims to enhance the ecosystem of the Viber as stated by the company itself.
It is mentioned that the new service will assist users in connecting with genuine individuals online. Profiles on Viber Dating will be associated with existing profiles and phone numbers on Viber. However, users’ numbers will be concealed to ensure privacy.
According to a survey conducted by the company in February, 45% of participants view misleading information in profiles as the primary issue with online dating. Additionally, 26% express concerns about fraud. This research was carried out through an anonymous online survey of approximately 30,000 individuals, with the predominant age group being 34-45 years old; over 50% of respondents are under 45.
The creators of Viber Dating guarantee that all profiles in this service will be authentic, as they will be established by users who already possess a Viber account. Furthermore, the company has assured that all privacy and confidentiality standards will be upheld. The dating profile will be distinct from the main account.
The precise launch date of the service has not been revealed yet. However, it has been indicated that to join the waiting list, users must select Viber Dating Beta in the Viber “More” menu, and then click on “Join the waiting list.”
Previously, it was reported that the Russian regulator Roskomndzor announced the blockade of the Viber messaging service, which ranks among the top three most widely used in Russia. The service was accused of failing to adhere to Russian legal requirements.
