One UI 8.5 for Galaxy – which models will receive the update and when / Collage 24 Channel/Sammobile
Samsung is gearing up for the next big step in the evolution of its proprietary shell. One UI 8.5 has been in beta testing for several months and is gradually approaching a stable release. The update promises not just cosmetic changes, but significant changes in functionality, security and personalization capabilities, making it one of the key updates for the Galaxy ecosystem this year.
Which Galaxy will get One UI 8.5 and when will it happen?
Samsung has not yet published an official list of compatible models. However, the company's update logic allows us to make a fairly accurate prediction. One UI 8.5 is based on Android 16 and uses the newer QPR2 branch, so all smartphones and tablets that have already received One UI 8.0 or came with it out of the box will most likely be updated to version 8.5, writes Gizmochina.
This category includes flagships and sub-flagships of several generations, foldable models, current tablets, as well as a significant part of the mid-range segment. These include the Galaxy S line from S21 FE to S25 Ultra, the foldable Galaxy Fold and Flip of several generations, the Galaxy Tab S, Tab A, and protected Tab Active tablets. Also on the list of expected models are numerous representatives of the Galaxy A, F, M, and XCover, including budget smartphones with LTE and 5G support.
In other words, if your device is already running One UI 8.0, the chance of getting One UI 8.5 is very high. Final confirmation is still worth waiting for from Samsung, as the company sometimes adjusts its support policy for individual regions or configurations.

When does the update rollout start?
The stable version of One UI 8.5 is expected to debut alongside the new Galaxy S26 series. These smartphones are scheduled to be unveiled at the end of February and go on sale in early March. They will be the first devices to come with One UI 8.5 pre-installed.
After that, Samsung will traditionally take a break of a few weeks before starting a mass update for already released models. According to preliminary data, the deployment of the stable version may start at the end of April.
- Premium smartphones – the flagships of the Galaxy S series and the new foldable Galaxy – will receive the update first.
- Next, it will be the turn of older flagships and tablets.
- Only then – to models of the middle and budget segments.
What to expect from One UI 8.5?
One UI 8.5 is designed to make using Galaxy devices even easier, more productive, and more secure. The update, which Samsung writes about, focuses on improving content creation processes, more convenient file sharing, and expanded interoperability between devices.
- The new skin makes working with photos much easier with the updated Photo Assist, which allows you to edit images without having to save each change individually. Users can view their edit history and choose the best options.
- The Quick Share feature has also been improved, now automatically recognizing people in photos and suggesting sending them directly to the appropriate contacts, making sharing content more intuitive.
- Separately, new possibilities for interaction between Galaxy devices are emphasized: the “Audio Broadcast” function allows you to broadcast sound and even voice from a smartphone to neighboring devices, which is convenient for group events.
- Additionally, Storage Sharing opens files from other Galaxy devices directly in the My Files app.
- In the area of security, One UI 8.5 strengthens anti-theft protection and adds new levels of control over settings.
The beta is available to Galaxy S25 series users in a number of countries, including the US, UK, Germany, Poland, Korea, and India, through the Samsung Members app.
