First among global brands: Crimean Tatar language appears in the official Lenovo / Depositphotos store
Global corporations are increasingly paying attention to the local characteristics of the regions where they are represented. This time, a well-known technology giant has taken an unprecedented step for the Ukrainian market, demonstrating a special attitude towards cultural heritage. This decision not only changes the approach to doing business, but also creates a new standard of interaction with users through digital platforms.
What is known about the integration of a new language on the site?
The modern world of technology strives for globalization, but the true success of companies today is determined by their ability to preserve and respect the uniqueness of each individual community. A vivid example of this approach was the renewal of the Ukrainian online store of Lenovo, writes the publication “Border”.
It is worth noting that the Crimean Tatar language was added not to the main site, which currently has dozens of languages from different countries of the world, but to the online store, where until now only two languages were present – Ukrainian and Russian.
The official resource shop.lenovo.ua now supports the Crimean Tatar language, making it the first platform among international technology brands in Ukraine to take such a step. This decision is part of a broader strategy aimed at supporting inclusivity and expanding opportunities for every user.
What does the company say about this?
The CEO of Lenovo in Ukraine, Taras Jamalov, says that Lenovo today is not just an electronics manufacturer, but a large-scale global ecosystem. The company employs more than 70,000 employees, and its divisions are scattered around the world. Research activities are concentrated in laboratories in the Japanese city of Yamato, development centers operate in Morrisville, in the United States of America, and a powerful production hub is located near Budapest, Hungary.
Despite such a broad international scale and the presence of an office in Kyiv, the company emphasizes that being global does not mean striving for complete uniformity.

The management of the Ukrainian division of the company notes that the brand's activities bring real benefits to society only when they are based on respect for local communities. The introduction of the Crimean Tatar version of the site was a logical continuation of this philosophy.
The main goal is for the Crimean Tatar community to feel recognized for their identity and be able to use modern digital tools in their native language. The company believes that the concept of smarter technology for everyone should be based on ensuring people's comfort and their inalienable right to be heard.
An example to follow
This initiative sets an important precedent for the entire Ukrainian e-commerce market. It demonstrates that big business can and should be socially responsible, contributing to the preservation of diversity.
Providing the opportunity to interact with the brand in your native language is not just a functional update of the site, but an expression of solidarity and support for the community, which is an integral part of the Ukrainian state and its cultural landscape.
Language revival: how the government plans to save Crimean Tatar from extinction
We will remind, not so long ago the Ukrainian government resumed the work of the National Commission on the Crimean Tatar Language. On March 12, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a corresponding resolution, which updated the composition and resumed the full work of the commission, the Representation of the President of Ukraine in Crimea reported.
The main task of the updated body is to implement the ambitious Strategy for the Development of the Crimean Tatar Language, which is designed for the period from 2022 to 2032. This strategic document was approved by the government two years ago, but now it is receiving new impetus for practical implementation.
The Commission functions as an advisory and consultative body that helps coordinate the efforts of different branches of executive power and develop solutions necessary for the full functioning of the indigenous language throughout Ukraine.
The situation with the linguistic heritage of the Crimean Tatars is critical today. According to the UNESCO classification, this language is included in the list of those under serious threat of extinction. The main danger lies in the fact that it is mainly spoken by representatives of the older generation, while children and young people hardly learn it as their native language. That is why the state's efforts are now aimed at changing this negative trend and creating conditions for the active use of the language by new generations.
