New details about a possible MacBook Ultra, Apple's premium laptop with an OLED touchscreen, have surfaced online. According to preliminary data, it will be more expensive than the current MacBook Pro models.

Apple may introduce a new category of laptops – MacBook Ultra . This is a device with a touchscreen OLED display, which was previously attributed to the Pro line. This is reported by Techradar .

How will the MacBook Ultra differ from the MacBook Pro?

Now sources claim that the company plans to put this model in a separate class – above the MacBook Pro. The reason is simple : the new product will receive expanded capabilities and, probably, a significantly higher price.

The MacBook Ultra is expected to feature the next- generation M6 chips, including the Pro and Max versions. The laptop could also be thinner than the current Pro models, underscoring its ultra-premium positioning.

One of the key changes will be the touchscreen , a feature that has never been seen on Apple laptops before. The combination of OLED and touch controls could significantly change the MacBook experience.

The possible MacBook Ultra name was also previously mentioned by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who estimated that the new model could cost about 20% more than current MacBook Pro versions .

According to Macworld , the device is expected to launch in the first half of 2027. Previously, it could have been introduced at the end of 2026, but, according to rumors, the release was postponed due to problems with the supply of RAM.

The Ultra name fits well with Apple's existing system , where there is already a gradation of chips – base, Pro, Max and Ultra versions. This allows the company to clearly separate the most expensive and most powerful devices.

The MacBook Ultra could be just part of a broader strategy , with Macworld reporting that Apple is also considering other products with the same platform, from iPhones to iPads and even AirPods with additional features.

So far, all information is based on leaks and has not been officially confirmed, but the emergence of a separate Ultra line seems like a logical step to expand Apple's premium segment.
