Italian Yannick Sinner became the first tennis player in history to win the “Sunny Double” without dropping a set after defeating Czech Jiri Leheckova in a rain-soaked final of the ATP 1000 tournament in Miami.
Sinner won the final with a convincing 6-4, 6-4 victory over Legeczko. The world number two won 92% of his first serve points and saved all three break points he faced in the match on his way to the ATP 1000 title in Miami.
By defeating the Czech in straight sets, Yannick continued his winning streak at the Masters without dropping a set. After winning the final in Miami, the streak, which has been going on since November 2025, reached a record 17 matches at ATP 1000 tournaments in Paris, Indian Wells and Miami.
By combining the Masters titles in Indian Wells and Miami, Sinner completed the “Sunny Double.” What's more, Yannick became the first tennis player in history to do so without dropping a single set.
“To do the 'Sunny Double' for the first time is incredible. I would never have thought about it, because it's such a difficult achievement. But somehow we did it, so I'm really happy. We worked hard to get to this point, so I'm really, really happy.”
Overall, Sinner became only the eighth tennis player in history to achieve the “Sunny Double.” The last time it was achieved was by Swiss tennis player Roger Federer in 2017, while the record holder for this indicator is Serbian Novak Djokovic – four times.
