Yannick Sinner won his fifth consecutive Masters and improved Novak Djokovic's record

World number one Yannick Sinner set a record for the most Masters titles won at the ATP 1000 tournament in Madrid.

Sinner triumphed at the Madrid tournament, defeating Germany's Alexander Zverev in the final. The Italian needed less than an hour to win, losing only three games to the German tennis player.

By beating Zverev, Sinner continued his winning streak at the Masters. Overall, this victory was his fourth ATP 1000 tournament of the season – he previously won titles in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo. And with the victory at the last Masters 2025 in Paris, this streak includes five tournaments.

Five consecutive Masters wins is a new record in men's tennis. Sinner bettered the previous record held by Novak Djokovic, who had three consecutive four-match winning streaks.

At the same time, Djokovic, like Sinner, also won five Masters in a row – in 2011, as well as in 2014-2015. However, the Serb, unlike the Italian, missed some of the ATP 1000 tournaments – Sinner, on the other hand, won them without missing a single one.

Longest winning streaks at the Masters

  • 5 wins: Yannick Sinner (2025- …
  • 4 wins: Novak Djokovic (2013-2014; 2014-2015; 2015-2016)
  • 3 wins : Rafael Nadal (2013)

“It's a lot of work, a lot of dedication and sacrifices that I make every day. Obviously, seeing these results is very important to me,” Sinner said after winning the title in Madrid. “At some point, the results will go down, and that's normal, but I'm very happy to continue to believe in myself. I give my all every day in every training session, trying to do the right amount of work with the right discipline.”

What other achievements can Yannick Sinner set?

  • If he wins the next Masters in Rome — he will win the “golden Masters” — he will win all ATP 1000 tournaments. So far, only Novak Djokovic has managed to do this — Sinner is just missing the title at his home tournament.
  • If he wins at Roland Garros, he will complete a career Slam: he will win all four Grand Slams. This is the tournament that Sinner has not yet won, having reached the final last year, in which he lost to Carlos Alcaraz.
