“We performed very poorly.” PSG with Zabarny interrupted the winning streak in the French championship before the Champions League final

With the Ukrainian in the squad, the Parisians won four previous Ligue 1 matches.

PSG ended the season in the French Ligue 1 championship with a defeat – the Parisians lost minimally to Paris (1:2) in the last round.

Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarny played the full match for the reigning champions. In the center of PSG's defense, he formed a pair of players with Brazilian team captain Marquinhos.

During the game, Zabarny made two interceptions and won two tackles. However, PSG conceded twice in the final minutes of the match: Paris equalized in the 76th minute, and in the fourth minute of injury time, they launched a decisive counterattack when Zabarny was in the opponents' penalty area to take a corner kick.

With Zabarny in the PSG squad, they won four previous matches in the French championship – the Ukrainian was not included in the application for the draw with Lorient (2:2) in early May. This is the first defeat of the capital's team in Ligue 1 since April 19, when PSG lost to Lyon (1:2).

After the defeat, PSG head coach Luis Enrique drew attention to the lack of motivation among his players, who had guaranteed the French championship ahead of schedule.

“We are the champions. We knew how difficult this match would be. I am a little disappointed because I expected much more from my players. Today we performed very poorly,” the club's official website quotes the Spaniard as saying.

“The first half [was played] without purpose, ambition and rhythm. It's difficult to win a match here. We knew what the objective was today. I think our players had to deal with the lack of motivation and play differently. It's very easy to be unmotivated in a match like this. But I was hoping for more.”

The final match of the season for PSG is the Champions League final against Arsenal on Saturday, May 30. The Parisians will try to win the main European club trophy for the second time in a row after their debut title in 2025.
