Yuriy Semenyuk and the Polish “Project Warsaw” won the “bronze” of the Polish Plus League in volleyball. The Ukrainian's team defeated “Rzeszów” after four matches.
After the first three games with Rzeszów, Project Warsaw was the leader in wins — 2:1 in games won. So, one more victory was enough for the Ukrainian team to become bronze medalists.
In the first set, “Project Warsaw” established a three-point lead by the middle of the game and only increased the lead by the end of the set – 25:19. In the second set, the Ukrainian team defeated their opponents 25:15, and in the third set they completed the victory with a score of 25:20.
Of the four matches, Semenyuk played only in the first, where he came on as a substitute in the second set. The Ukrainian did not earn any points, but made one save. After an opponent's attack (spike) or serve, the player prevents the ball from touching the court.
The bronze medal is the third in a row for the Ukrainian with Project Warsaw in the Polish championship. After Semenyuk joined the team in 2022, he finished fifth in the Polish Plus League in his debut season. However, in the next two seasons he climbed to the championship podium, winning bronze.
This season, Semenyuk's team continues to fight for the awards of the Volleyball Champions League. The next match “Project Warsaw” will be in the semifinals of the Eurocup against the team of another Ukrainian Oleg Plotnytsky, who became the champion of Italy as part of “Perugia”. The semifinals of the Volleyball Champions League will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 18:00 Kyiv time.
Also, both volleyball players were included in Ukraine's application for a training camp to prepare for the Volleyball Nations League, which has already begun and will last until May 18. Ukraine's first match in the tournament against Japan will take place on June 10.
