Usyk-Chisora fight postponed until July
"eksandr Usyk's fight with Dereck Chisora has been postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic in the world. According to promoter Alexander Krassyuk, the fight has been postponed until July. However, everything will depend on the situation in the world," the report reads.
The Usyk-Chisora bout was to be held at London's O2 Arena on May 23. The decision to postpone the fight was made due to the fact that the British Boxing Board of Contr banned all sports events in the country until late May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The fight will be a serious test for Usyk, the former undisputed world cruiserweight champion, because his rival remains in the heavyweight elite. The Briton's victory over the Ukrainian will allow him to again be a challenger for the championship fight, as well as earn serious money.
Earlier, promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that the winner of the Usyk-Chisora duel would be able to fight world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua at the end of the year.
Usyk made his heavyweight debut in October 2019 when he defeated Chazz Witherspoon via TKO.
