How was the relay race among juniors at the 2026 World Cup?
- Tetyana Tarasyuk, who started the race for the Ukrainian team, made one mistake on the first firing line, but was able to close the target with the first additional cartridge. Thanks to this, the Ukrainian retained fourth place, and the gap to France was 11.4 seconds. Tarasyuk passed the “stand” without mistakes, which allowed her to win back one position, despite this, Ukraine was sixth in the relay.
- In the second stage, Ksenia Prykhodko also used one extra cartridge in the first shooting, despite this, she won four steps at once and came out of the firing line second. According to the results of the “stand”, Prykhodko became the leader of the race, since her closest competitor, unlike the Ukrainian, was forced to use extra cartridges.
- During the third stage, the Ukrainian team remained among the leading group. Valeria Sheigas used one additional cartridge in the prone position, and in the standing position the Ukrainian had to use three additional attempts to close all the targets. Despite this, the “blue-yellow” team was in third place before the final stage.
- The finisher of the Ukrainian team was Oleksandra Merkushyna, who had problems already in the first round. On the “prone” the Ukrainian made three mistakes and in the end was able to close only two targets, going to the penalty round. Merkushyna came to the decisive shooting in fifth place and despite using one additional cartridge, she was able to raise the team by one position. Merkushyna was able to win another step to the finish line and win the “bronze” of the world championship for the Ukrainian team.
