
Ukrainian volleyball player Oleg Plotnytskyi became the winner of the Champions League! In the final, Perugia, for which the Ukrainian plays, defeated the Polish Warta.
Perugia advanced to the semifinals with a three-set victory over Project Warsaw, played by another Ukrainian, Yuriy Semenyuk. Varta, on the other hand, defeated Ankara, a Turkish team, in a four-set match.
The 2026 Champions League final was a repeat of last year's title match. Perugia and Varthamans played a 5-set match, with the Italian's team winning the tiebreak.
Varese failed to take revenge on Perugia. What's more, the Italian team defeated the Polish champions in a 3-set match.
Warta put up the most resistance in the first set. The Polish team even had a set point at 27:26, but Perugia won three points in a row and won the game by a more or less margin of 29:27.
In the second and third games, Perugia won more convincingly against Varta. The Italian team finished the second set with a margin of +7, and the third with a margin of +10.
Oleg Plotnytskyi became one of the team's most productive players with 12 points. Only Tunisian Wassim Ben Tara — 24 points — surpassed him.

What does Perugia's victory mean?
- Perugia's second consecutive and second overall victory in the Volleyball Champions League. Varta, on the other hand, lost the final of the most prestigious European cup tournament for the second time in a row.
- Perugia's fourth trophy of the season. During the season, the Italian team won the Club World Cup and the country's Super Cup, and at the end of the season, the national championship and now the Champions League.
- Oleh Plotnytskyi won his 15th trophy with Perugia. In addition to two victories in the Champions League, the Ukrainian won the Italian Super Cup six times, the Club World Cup three times, and the championship and Italian Cup twice each.
